UN and GCC condemn Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and civilians

The United Nations and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have strongly condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and the targeting of civilian sites, deeming them a threat to regional stability. At a meeting in New York, Secretary-General of the GCC, Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed their disapproval of Houthi militia assaults on Saudi Arabia, describing them as detrimental to security and stability in the region.

This condemnation transpired during a gathering on the sidelines of the GCC Secretary-General's attendance at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Both entities highlighted their review of cooperation between the GCC and the United Nations, as well as discussions on methods to enhance and solidify their partnership in serving mutual interests. The meeting also featured exchanges of opinions regarding the most recent regional developments and deliberations on various regional issues, along with ongoing efforts to address them.

Guterres acknowledged the GCC states for their accomplishments in development, progress, and prosperity, as well as their regional and international commitments to promote security and stability.
