TTAP forms committee to consult with political parties, reach consensus on multi-party moot

On Sunday, Tehreek-i-Tahafuz-Ayin-i-Pakistan (TTAP) established a six-person committee to engage with political parties and establish a consensus for a forthcoming multi-party conference (MPC). The opposition had earlier this month announced their intention to organize the moot. In a statement on the X social media platform, the opposition alliance unveiled the formation of the six-member committee, which will consist of: Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate; Barrister Gohar Khan, Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI); Asad Qaiser, TTAP’s Secretary General; Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, Vice Chairman; Akhunzada Hussain Ahmed Yousafzai, the party's spokesperson; and Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, a core committee member from PTI.

According to the announcement, the committee will communicate with other political parties concerning the proposed moot, seek their input on the agenda, and strive for an agreement on the course of action. The notification stated that the committee would proceed with its consultation and coordination efforts under the guidance of TTAP leadership.

On September 11, the opposition declared their intention to hold consultations to convene an MPC to address various matters, including the establishment of new provinces, law and order, and the economy. At the time, Barrister Gohar, during a press conference following a party meeting with Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam–Fazl (JUI-F), revealed plans to hold the conference, emphasizing the necessity of such measures due to the current law and order situation, economic challenges, inflation, lawlessness, and the creation of new provinces issue.
