Trump converts planned triumphal arch into drone facility

President Donald Trump has reportedly agreed to reconfigure his intended triumphal arch near Arlington National Cemetery into a site for housing and deploying drones and sniper ammunition, citing national security concerns. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) determined the 250-foot arch would not pose a danger to aircraft, though it would require an eternal flame atop the structure.

This approval eliminated an aviation barrier for the arch, which Trump originally intended to honor the nation's 250th anniversary. Concerns about the arch's location near Reagan Washington National Airport were raised by aviation experts who warned of potential safety issues. Additionally, veterans filed a lawsuit to prevent the project, arguing it would harm the historic sightline between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.

The triumphal arch is part of Trump's broader initiative to alter Washington's iconic landmarks, which also includes plans for a new White House ballroom, restoration of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, and the transformation of a golf course in East Potomac Park.
