Trump claims Houthis won't fight US as Saudi Arabia comes under fire

President Donald Trump asserted on Sunday that Yemen's Houthi rebels have agreed not to target the United States, despite the group intensifying its conflict against US ally Saudi Arabia, according to Fox News. Trump, who frequently communicates with the president, claimed that Washington maintains constant contact with the Houthis and that they have pledged not to engage in warfare with the United States.

The president echoed similar statements he has made previously, suggesting that the Houthis are hesitant to confront US forces in the region.

The president's remarks to Fox News occurred during a visit to Ireland on September 12, and they came as the United States faces mounting pressure from Saudi Arabia. On Saturday, a missile struck the capital Riyadh, while the Houthis have also launched a swift offensive within Yemen, capturing substantial territory from the internationally recognized government, which is supported by Saudi Arabia.

Fox News reported that Trump is currently in a state of decision-making regarding Iran. On February 28, US and Israeli forces launched a massive aerial bombing campaign against Iran, which has since evolved into a protracted standoff. According to Trey Yingst, a Fox News reporter who often speaks with Trump, the president informed him that "big things will be happening in the not so distant future" and that "Iranians better behave." Trump is weighing his options to determine whether or not to inflict damage on Iran.
