Townsend hit by pitch roller while warming up in Thai league

Former England international Andros Townsend escaped serious injury after a freak accident involving a pitch roller during a warm-up in Thailand. The incident occurred while Townsend was warming up for PT Prachuap before their Thai League fixture against Pattani. Townsend, who played as a winger for Tottenham Hotspur, was outside the designated area, attempting an aerial backheel when the heavy pitch roller, driven by a grounds staff member, struck his legs and momentarily ran him over.

The roller fortunately stopped around his hip, preventing more severe damage. Townsend's teammates quickly rushed to assist him, but remarkably, the player managed to continue playing and later came on as a substitute in stoppage time. PT Prachuap secured a 3-0 victory over Pattani FC, marking Townsend's third appearance for the club since his summer arrival.
