Thailand sweep Indonesia to reach Asian Games volleyball semi-finals

NAGOYA, Japan — Thailand's women's volleyball team secured a 3-0 victory over Indonesia on Sunday, advancing to the semi-finals of the 2026 Asian Games held in Aichi-Nagoya. The Thai squad, currently ranked 13th globally, triumphed over the Indonesian team, which is ranked 53rd, with a final score of 25-10, 29-27, 25-16 in their quarter-final match held at Park Arena Komaki.

This win extended Thailand's unbeaten streak in the tournament, as they have not dropped a set yet. Coach Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai, popularly known as Coach Ott, spearheaded a formidable starting lineup comprising captain Pornpun Guedpard, Thatdao Nuekjang, Sasipaporn Janthawisut, Pimpichaya Kokram, Chatchu-on Moksri, and Kaewkalaya Kamulthala, with Piyanut Pannoy serving as the libero.

Piyanut played a pivotal role in the game. Thailand showcased dominance during the opening set, establishing a comfortable lead before securing it 25-10. Indonesia retaliated with a stellar defensive performance in the second set, managing to create a 12-point gap. However, Thailand regrouped and managed to tie the scores at 24-24, eventually clinching the match 29-27.

The decisive point in the final set was delivered by Warisara Seetaloed. Pimpichaya emerged as Thailand's top scorer, amassing 20 points throughout the match. Thailand will face the victor of Sunday's quarter-final clash between China and Vietnam in the semi-finals on September 21.
