Stewart shines as Liberty thump Tempo 106-69 in Toronto’s home finale

Breanna Stewart shined brightly in the New York Liberty's 106-69 victory over the expansion Toronto Tempo at the Toronto Coca-Cola Coliseum on Sunday. The seasoned point guard delivered a game-high 27 points, complemented by eight rebounds and four assists. Despite presenting a strong showing, the Tempo (11-31) couldn't overcome the Liberty (26-16), who claimed their third straight win.

This marked the Tempo's final home game of their debut WNBA season, which ended with a capacity crowd of 8,200 patrons. Stewart's performance not only highlighted her individual prowess but also echoed her role in leading the United States to a fifth world championship title in Berlin last weekend. The Tempo, despite an early surge, struggled to keep pace with Stewart's dominating presence.

Centre Jonquel Jones added 11 points for the Liberty, while Laura Juskaite led the Tempo with a career-high 28 points, bolstered by rookie Kiki Rice's 19 points. Despite the defeat, the Tempo was without two key players, Brittney Sykes (left foot) and Marina Mabrey (right adductor), who were sidelined.
