South African journalist missing in Djibouti, family says

South African journalist Micah Reddy and his local fixer, Kooki Mahmoud, have reportedly gone missing in Djibouti. Reddy, who also served as the Africa Coordinator for the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), arrived in the country on Thursday night. He was scheduled to leave Djibouti on Monday at the latest.

Reddy had a meeting with Mahmoud and remained in contact with the ICIJ via a hotel around 1 PM on Friday local time. However, he disappeared shortly after, and has not been heard from since. The ICIJ quickly alerted authorities in the UK, South Africa, and Djibouti about the situation. The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) expressed growing concern over Reddy and Mahmoud's absence for over 24 hours.
