'Shocked & Deeply Pained': CM Fadnavis Mourns Senior Journalist Payal Mehta’s Sudden Demise In Mumbai; Extends Condolences To Family

Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis mourned the sudden passing of veteran journalist Payal Mehta, 46, on Sunday, expressing shock and grief over her untimely demise. Tagging Mehta's official X account, Fadnavis wrote, "Shocked and deeply pained to know about the sudden demise of a very hardworking and senior journalist Payal Mehta.

She used to meet me whenever I was in New Delhi and always on the field." He added, "She will be remembered for her dedication towards journalism." Fadnavis also extended condolences to Mehta's family and friends. Mehta, an Assistant Editor at CNN-News18 (Network18), passed away at the age of 46 after a sudden medical emergency in Mumbai on September 20.

Reports indicate she fell ill late on Saturday night and was rushed to a hospital, where she was declared dead. Political leaders, journalists, and colleagues have paid tributes to Mehta, who was known for her ground reporting and understanding of national issues. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolences, highlighting Mehta's work on the ground and her connection to national issues.
