Rainbow coalition: APC govs afraid of Wike – Odoemena

Elias Odoemena, the Convener of the Igbo Union, has criticized the Progressive Governors’ Forum for their conflict with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. Odoemena believes that at one point, the same governors were relying on Wike's support when the party maintained its presidential hold in 2023. He is puzzled at the sudden change of heart, especially when Wike was fighting for President Bola Tinubu while the governors remained silent.

Odoemena pointed out that the real reason behind the APC governors' fear of Wike is their poor governance skills. He asserted that if they managed their states better, they would have the backing of their constituents. Odoemena stated on Arise News, "It is not always good for action to provoke a reaction." He recounted how all the governors would visit Wike when he was present, but now they are against the Rainbow Coalition.

Odoemena, while not a staunch supporter of Wike, is standing by him in this situation. He reasoned that if APC governors were to govern their states effectively, the people would be on their side. He also mentioned that a thousand members of the Rainbow Coalition would not harm them. The Progressive Governors’ Forum, led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, vehemently opposes the Rainbow Coalition, viewing it as a significant threat to their interests ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
