Qatar Press Center Board of Directors holds 15th meeting

Doha - The Board of Directors of the Qatar Press Center convened their 15th meeting, presided over by Chairman Abdulrahman Majed Al Qahtani. Notable board members present included Jaber Salem Al Harami, Prof. Khalid Mubarak Al-Shafi, Falih Hussein Al-Hajri, Faisal Al-Mudahka, Faisal Mohammed Abdullah, and Sadiq Mohammed Al Amari, Director General and Board Secretary.

The discussion centered on various subjects and decisions, with approval granted for the roadmap leading to the subsequent phase. This included setting out the schedule of upcoming events and activities.

In a unanimous vote, Jaber Salem Al Harami was elected as Vice Chairman of the Board, reinforcing the leadership structure of the organization.

The Chair and Board members acknowledged Qatar's distinction as the top-ranked Gulf country in the 2026 Press Freedom Index. This achievement was seen as a testament to the State's commitment to bolstering press freedom and fortifying the media's role in society. The Board highlighted that this speaks to the broader evolution within Qatar's media landscape.

The directors also underscored the necessity of sustained efforts to elevate Qatari media standards and expand its influence. They stressed the importance of evolving journalistic and media content to keep pace with rapid developments in the media environment, while promoting professionalism and innovation across various channels.

The Board members emphasized the pivotal role of newspapers and media outlets in disseminating truth, fostering public awareness, spotlighting national concerns, and supporting Qatar's developmental trajectory. This, in turn, bolsters the reputation and mission of Qatari media, reinforcing the principles of responsible and professional journalism.
