Populariti Noor Helmy cabaran besar DAP rampas Duyong

In the 2021 PRN, Noor Helmy Abdul Halem secured a seat in the Duyong constituency, a victory that DAP hopes to replicate, despite the party's difficulties in doing so. Social media users often portray Noor Helmy positively, encompassing people from various ethnicities, religions, and economic backgrounds, making the task of DAP more challenging.

A university professor, Mazlan Ali, suggests that a three-cornered contest involving Barisan Nasional (BN), Perikatan Nasional (PN), and Pakatan Harapan (PH) could open opportunities for DAP to challenge Noor Helmy. However, he believes it is difficult due to Umno's strong political base in Melaka, with around 60% of voters being Malay and 35% Chinese.

Another expert, Lau Zhe Wei, states that the main challenge for DAP is Noor Helmy's positive image, which resonates with a wide range of Malaysians, regardless of their ethnicity, religion, or economic background. DAP should be cautious about promoting negative images of Noor Helmy, as it might influence voters' perception of the party beyond Duyong.
