Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim once again warned political parties against using ethnic issues to attract support. Such tactics are often employed when a political party is facing significant challenges, especially during political dynamics that are unfavorable to them. In a speech at the 41st Malaysia Chinese Cultural Festival in Melaka, Anwar stated that Malaysia has been independent for nearly 70 years, and ethnic issues should no longer be a primary concern for any community residing in the country.

He emphasized that Malaysia needs to showcase growth with the strength of various ethnic groups, regardless of who leads the nation. "Tonight's address is more of a plea," he said, urging everyone to reconsider their voices, acknowledge their value, and engage in discourse. "Negeri apa? Negeri kita," he added. Anwar highlighted that while people had understood this during the 40s and 50s, when Malaysia was striving for independence, each person spoke about the survival of their respective ethnic groups.

"Now, Malaysia is a new nation," he concluded. He stressed that every individual with a mandate and every supported individual must pledge to protect the people, the nation, and the future of their children as a united country.
