PM Doesn’t Listen to Me: Investment Minister

Federal Investment Minister Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh expressed frustration with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, stating that the premier is too occupied to hear his grievances. Speaking at the Karachi Press Club, Sheikh emphasized Karachi's crucial role as Pakistan’s economic center but lamented its lack of political influence. He urged for a more prominent political status for the city.

Sheikh called for increased focus on exports to drive stronger economic growth for Pakistan. He also commended the prime minister and Field Marshal Asim Munir for their successful diplomatic efforts. The minister stressed that the private sector must contribute by boosting exports and luring investments. He further mentioned that the Board of Investment is striving to streamline regulations.

Sheikh criticized the implementation of the 18th Amendment, noting how provincial governments are exploiting its terms. Similar concerns were evident in both Sindh and Punjab provinces. The minister warned that ongoing political disputes could hinder progress towards bolstering the nation's economic landscape.
