Patrick Clancy speaks out after Lindsay Clancy mistrial, says ‘I did the best I could’ before children’s deaths

Patrick Clancy has spoken out about his role in his ex-wife Lindsay Clancy's mental health struggles before their tragic deaths of their three children in January 2023. In an exclusive interview with CBS correspondent Ross Douthat, Clancy stated that he believes he did "the best I could" while supporting his ex-wife. He expressed that he lives with the outcome daily.

Lindsay Clancy pleaded guilty to strangling their children - Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months - at their home in Duxbury, Massachusetts. Her mental health defense argued she was not criminally responsible due to severe conditions like postpartum psychosis. The jury could not reach a unanimous verdict, leading to a mistrial on September 4.

A follow-up court hearing is scheduled for September 29, and prosecutors have not decided on a retrial. As of now, Clancy still interacts with his children, speaking to them as he believes they provide him solace. His new wife, Dr. Rachel Danis, has defended him against online accusations, describing him as a "most selfless father and supportive partner."
