Pakistan did not qualify for the Asian Games women's cricket final as Sri Lanka secured an emphatic eight-wicket victory over their team in the semi-final held at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Japan on Sunday. The match saw Sri Lanka chase down 178 with 13 balls to spare, with Chamari Athapaththu playing a crucial role by scoring an unbeaten 83 off 50 balls.
Fatima Sana and her team managed to post a total of 177 for four. Athapaththu's unbeaten innings and strong batting display proved to be the turning point in the game, as Sri Lanka's bowlers struggled to contain the scoring rate. The defeat marked Pakistan's second loss to Sri Lanka in 10 days, after losing to the team in the recent Women's Asia Cup.
Sri Lanka's win could potentially take them to the final against either India or Pakistan, depending on the outcome of the other semi-final match.
