No need to call for Parliament’s dissolution, PKR man tells Kedah Umno

Kedah PKR communications director Tunku Nashrul Abaidah dismissed the call by Kedah Umno for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to dissolve Parliament as unnecessary. He argued that the call served only to fulfill Umno's political objectives and contradicted Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's view that the party would remain in the unity government until the term's end.

Tunku Nashrul emphasized that the Madani government remained stable and Umno's presence in the Cabinet warranted respect for the principles of collective responsibility. He urged Kedah Umno to clarify if they still upheld Umno's president or were willing to jeopardize national stability for political gain. Earlier, Syed Johan Rizal Syed Unan Mashri, the Kedah Umno communications director, had suggested that DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook's resignation as transport minister had exacerbated political instability and urged Anwar to dissolve Parliament for a new government election.

Loke subsequently announced his withdrawal from the cabinet, stating that DAP would stay in the government and its ministers would maintain their positions.
