New Independent Party Threatens PSOE Dominance in Rojales

A new independent political party, Futuro Común Rojales-Quesada (FCRQ), has emerged in the municipality of Rojales, potentially reshaping the municipal landscape ahead of the May 2027 local elections. Registered in July 2026, the group has not confirmed participation in the elections but is eligible to field candidates should its members choose to do so.

The party was established by local residents, some of whom previously belonged to the PSOE and others linked to the political left and the Partido Popular. This development is significant as many of the party's members were once part of the PSOE-led council until about a year ago, leading to dissatisfaction with the party's internal management and divisions over the selection of a successor to long-serving mayor Antonio Pérez García.

FCRQ defines itself as a progressive, municipalist movement dedicated to public participation, transparency, equality, and social and environmental justice, with the aim of improving life across the municipality without discrimination. Positioned as a new force in Rojales, its formation could significantly impact the city's long-standing dominance by the PSOE and PP.
