Ndia MP: Gachagua remains the only leader who can pull organic crowds, not even us who are in the govt

Ndia Member of Parliament George Kariuki has revealed that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua remains the sole leader capable of organizing large, spontaneous gatherings, despite government-aligned politicians possessing access to state resources. Speaking in an interview on September 20, 2026, Kariuki noted that even government-affiliated politicians struggle to mobilize audiences as effectively as Gachagua.

He stated, "Most of us who are allied to the government have the resources to conduct campaigns around the region, but none of us can pull organic crowds like Gachagua." Should Gachagua attend events in areas like Ruiru or Kasarani, Kariuki observed, he would hold an organic meeting; in contrast, his own team faces difficulty in achieving the same level of turnout.

Kariuki attributed Gachagua's talent for drawing crowds to his political energy and unwavering messaging, although he acknowledged that many of Gachagua's claims are misleading. The MP claimed that Gachagua has successfully convinced a significant portion of the population to identify with his political stance, thus enabling him to attract attendees without resorting to financial incentives.

This difficulty in connecting with the public was cited as one reason why it is challenging for politicians currently in government to secure similar reception during their political engagements. Kariuki further attributed Gachagua's success to his use of the Kikuyu language in his speeches, which resonates deeply with the majority of the population.

He stated that Gachagua manages to connect with approximately 75% of the people by speaking their native language, and this connection influences about 25% of the remaining population. This unique ability to speak to the hearts of a substantial portion of the electorate makes Gachagua a formidable opponent to defeat.
