Navi Mumbai Professor To Present Research On Gender, Ecology And Literature At International Conference In China

Dr. Swati Ramkishan Bhise, an assistant professor at Tolani College of Commerce in Mumbai, will present her research at an international conference in Chengdu, China. The conference, titled "Remapping New World Literature and Culture," will take place from September 21 to 24. Her paper, "Ecolibrium of Power: Gendered Ecologies and Intersectional Ecofeminist Resistance in Global South Cold War Literatures," has been selected for presentation under the panel "Degendering Gender and the Eco-Literary Protests: The Literatures of the Cold War Era."

Dr. Bhise's research explores the intersection of gender, ecology, and literature, focusing on how literature from the Global South during the Cold War era engaged with ecological concerns, gender relations, and forms of resistance. The Ecosophical Foundation for the Study of Literature and Environment (EFSLE) has awarded her the EFSLE China Travel Grant 2026 to support her participation in the conference.

The EFSLE Review Committee praised the study for its intellectual depth, innovative approach, and contribution to environmental humanities research. This selection provides Bhise with a valuable opportunity to present her research to an international academic audience and engage with scholars from various countries.
