National Welfare Foundation aid presented to family of late flight nurse Debra Moset

KUCHING: The National Welfare Foundation (YKN) presented immediate disaster relief aid to the family of Debra Moset, a flight nurse who tragically died in a Flying Doctor Service helicopter crash on September 8 in Long Lellang, Ulu Baram. Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri presented the aid during a visit to the family's home in Kampung Semadang, Padawan.

Nancy, who chairs the YKN Board of Trustees, expressed her condolences and the gesture of support for the family during this difficult time. She emphasized that while the aid cannot replace a life lost, it aims to ease the family's burden. The immediate relief aid was given to Debra's husband, John Then. The family was also visited by Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin, YKN CEO Nordina Haron, and Deputy Secretary-General of the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry (Policy) Mohd Daud Mohd Arif.

Nancy highlighted Debra's service and sacrifice in providing healthcare to rural communities, stating that her mother, Renog Rasas, 71, would receive the Senior Citizens Assistance next month, as well as the Kenyalang Gold Card and Senior Citizen Health Benefit. The YKN has provided similar assistance to the families of three other crash victims in recent months.
