Myanmar’s Van defeats Pantoja to retain flyweight title in UFC 331

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - September 19, 2026: Joshua Van of Myanmar delivered a masterful 5-round performance to outclass Alexandre Pantoja of Brazil in the UFC flyweight championship fight, solidifying his position as the best flyweight in the world. The highly anticipated main event at UFC 331 showcased a back-and-forth battle for 25 minutes, but Van's superior boxing, speed, and control of the fight's location ultimately tipped the scales in his favor.

The three judges scored the bout 49-46, 49-46, and 50-45 in Van's favor, confirming the 24-year-old phenom's second successful title defense at UFC 331.

Pantoja initially took Van down with a takedown, only for Van to quickly recover to his feet. Pantoja maintained control as he flattened Van on the ground, attempting to secure a submission. However, Van explosively reversed the position, taking the fight back to his feet. Throughout the fight, Pantoja employed a mix of aggressive strikes and takedowns, but Van's slick reversals kept him out of danger.
