Michael Dell’s $10.9m Boston penthouse heads to auction with $6.5m reserve

Michael Dell, the billionaire tech executive and CEO of Dell Technologies, is preparing to auction his unused Boston penthouse through a sealed-bid auction. The 4,100-square-foot residence, which he purchased for $10.9 million in 2016, is located on the 59th floor of the 60-story Millennium Tower in the Midtown area of Boston. The auction, managed by Paramount Realty USA and listing agent Michael Carucci, has a minimum reserve price of $6.5 million, which is more than 40 percent below Dell's original purchase price.

Located on the 59th floor, the penthouse features three bedrooms, four full bathrooms, and one half-bath, with floor-to-ceiling glass walls offering panoramic views of the Boston skyline and nearby harbor. The property includes wide-plank hardwood floors, marble details, a gas fireplace, a private outdoor terrace, high ceilings, and a chef's kitchen equipped with custom woodwork, high-end appliances, and built-in cabinets. The sale also includes two reserved parking spaces in the building's underground garage.

Residing in the Millennium Tower, residents gain access to luxury amenities such as 24-hour concierge service, doormen, a private screening room, a fitness center, and a 75-foot indoor lap pool. Dell's decision to auction the property follows several attempts to sell it on the regular real estate market. The change in Boston's luxury condominium market, with some penthouse sales falling below expectations, likely contributed to Dell's decision.

Bidding on the 59th-floor penthouse will conclude in late October, marking it as one of the most prominent luxury property auctions in New England this year.
