Metrash expands digital services with its upgraded app

The Metrash app has become one of Qatar's most utilized government service platforms, boasting over 10 million services per year and more than 2.8 million active users, according to a Ministry of Interior (MoI) official. Launched in 2011, Metrash now offers over 500 services and is available in six languages.

Capt. Ali Ahmed Syed, head of the MoI's Internet and Electronic Services Section, announced a major upgrade to the app, which features a redesigned interface, streamlined processes, and an expanded array of electronic services. These enhancements aim to simplify government transactions for residents, citizens, companies, and visitors.

The updated platform incorporates a new design, re-engineered services, revised transaction classifications, and fresh services. Services are now organized by type and usage frequency, enabling users to access multiple related transactions through a single icon. Traffic-related services have been consolidated for easier navigation, and new categories cover security, traffic, personal files, Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) citizens, visa inquiries, notifications, certificates, and payments.

A new feature allows users to pay traffic violations on behalf of friends or family members. The upgraded Metrash platform provides access to personal information and documents, including ID cards, driving licenses, vehicle details, military driving licenses, and company registration information. Users can access enquiry services for sponsored individuals, travel movements, travel bans, police clearance certificates, and other related information.

Residence permit services have been streamlined, enabling users to renew, cancel, pay fines, and reissue permits. Capt. Syed explained that residence permit renewal, one of the most-used services, can be completed in a few steps. Users can select the renewal process, choose the individuals involved, specify the renewal period, and make the payment.

The renewed ID card can then be delivered through Qatar Post. The platform also allows users to track the status of lost or damaged document applications, update personal photographs, change passport details, and submit applications for name changes. Visa-related services have been consolidated under categories for application submission, procedures, follow-up, and medical check-ups for recruitment from outside Qatar.
