Virginia Water, United Kingdom: Rory McIlroy finds himself two shots behind the leader heading into the final day of the European Tour's prestigious PGA Championship at Wentworth after completing his third round with an impressive eagle. The back-to-back US Masters champion, one of only six golfers to have claimed victory in all four men's major championships, posted a three-under par 69 on Saturday, placing him joint-sixth and among five players sitting at 11-under.

McIlroy started the day one-over after 11 holes but made up for it with birdies on the 12th and 17th holes. He then showcased his skill with an outstanding four-iron approach shot from 230 yards, setting up an eagle putt on the final hole at Wentworth. McIlroy expressed his satisfaction with his play, stating that the varying wind conditions made it challenging to predict the wind's direction, but he maintained patience, which ultimately paid off in his last few holes.

Spain's Manuel Elvira and Italy's Filippo Celli lead the tournament with 13-under, while Alejandro del Rey, JJ Spaun, and Johannes Veerman are all tied at 12-under, leaving the outcome of the tournament wide open for Sunday. McIlroy aims to close the gap on Patrick Reed by winning a record-equalling eighth Race to Dubai title and securing his second PGA Championship title at this familiar course.
