(LEAD) (Asiad) S. Korea wins women's, men's team bronze medals in soft tennis

NAGOYA, Japan - South Korea claimed bronze medals in both the women's and men's team events of the soft tennis at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Sunday, marking its first two medals in the sport during this year's competition. The duo lost to Chinese Taipei in both semifinals held at the Nagoya City Higashiyama Park Tennis Center in Nagoya, central Japan.

Earlier, the Philippines emerged victorious in the women's event, while Indonesia claimed the men's bronze. In the women's semifinals, South Korea fell short against Chinese Taipei with a score of 2-1. The team matches follow a best-of-three format, with the first team to win two matches declared the winner. Matches consist of two best-of-nine doubles matches and one best-of-seven singles match.

In the opening doubles match, South Korea's Lee Su-jin and Kim Han-sul fell to Hsu Chiao-ying and Huang Shih-yuan 5-4. Hwang Jeong-mi of South Korea then secured a 4-3 victory over Chiang Min-yu in the subsequent singles match, overcoming a 3-2 deficit. However, Eom Ye-jin and Kim Yeon-hwa of South Korea were defeated by Zhou Yan-zhen and Lo Shu-ting in the final doubles match 5-4.

In the men's semifinals, Lee Hyun-gwon and Park Jae-kyu were defeated by Yu Kai-wen and Lin Wei-chieh 5-3 in the doubles. Kim Jin-woong outperformed Chang Yu-sung with a 4-3 win in the singles. Nonetheless, Kim Hyun-soo and Lee Haneul suffered a 5-0 loss to Chen Po-yi and Chen Yu-hsun in the deciding doubles match.
