Johnson rushes for 238 yards, 2 TDs in South Dakota State’s 27-20 win over Youngstown State

Josiah Johnson showcased a dominant performance on Saturday, rushing for an impressive 238 yards and scoring two touchdowns during South Dakota State's 27-20 victory over Youngstown State. The Jackrabbits (3-1, 1-0 Missouri Valley Football Conference) claimed the lead just before halftime, a lead they held onto comfortably. The Penguins (2-2, 0-1), ranked ninth, managed just one score in the second half, falling behind 10-7 early.

Johnson's second touchdown came early in the second half, a 16-yard rush. Quarterback Chase Mason added an 18-yard touchdown run in the first half, while Joe Ollman intercepted a pass to help kick a field goal just before time expired. Despite a touchdown and a field goal by Youngstown State, they couldn't mount a comeback. Quarterback Beau Brungard completed 27 of 35 passes for 292 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception during the game.

Lynn Wyche-El contributed significantly with seven catches for 114 yards and a score. South Dakota State will host Eastern Illinois next Saturday, while Youngstown State is scheduled to host next Saturday.
