Isak nets winner as Liverpool edge Bournemouth

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraoli secured a narrow win for his team as they returned to Bournemouth at the conclusion of the international break. Alexander Isak, who has scored four Premier League goals this season, put Liverpool ahead with a close-range finish following an impressive run by Cody Gakpo. The Swedish forward's goal came in the 57th minute, after Bournemouth failed to clear a ball into the box.

Isak was greeted by Liverpool's fans upon his return and received a booking from referee Michael Oliver. Iraoli, who previously helped Bournemouth secure European qualification before joining Liverpool in the summer, received a warm welcome from the home supporters. Before Isak's goal, Bournemouth came closest to scoring when Evanilson's flick was well saved by Alisson, who then provided a corner.

Florian Wirtz came close for Bournemouth with a shot that was flagged offside, but replays showed he was actually onside. Bradley Barcola's £123 million signing nearly secured a point for the Cherries with a near-post header, but the effort was saved by Djordje Petrovic. Dominik Szoboszlai's dipping free-kick also drifted just wide.

Liverpool's win moves them up to sixth place with nine points from six games, while Bournemouth remain at 17th with three points from five games, still searching for their first top-flight victory of the campaign.
