Iran shuts language centre affiliated with French embassy in Tehran

Iranian authorities have announced the closure of a French language centre affiliated with the Tehran embassy, alleging it engaged in illicit activities. The French Language Centre (CLF), operating under the guise of language instruction for years, was deemed to have violated diplomatic conventions. The judiciary accused the centre of exploiting its status as a language training facility to identify and network among the country's elite figures, facilitating their departure.

The French embassy has not commented on the matter. Relations between Tehran and Paris have been tense in recent months, with France recently expelling two Iranian diplomats in response to the brief arrest and banning of two French envoys in retaliation for Iran's accusations of "interference in Iran's internal affairs."
