Injured man expected to be charged with murder after fatal housefire in SA's mid-north

A man has died and two others remain hospitalized following a fatal housefire in Redhill, South Australia's mid-north region. The incident occurred just after 7 PM on Saturday when emergency crews responded to reports of a blaze on Hope Street. Upon arrival, SA Police discovered a 63-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman with serious burns, who were airlifted to a hospital in Adelaide for treatment. The man's injuries were deemed life-threatening, while the woman's condition is reported as stable.

Following the fire's suppression and the property's safety, firefighters located the body of a 65-year-old man. Police revealed that the 63-year-old man, who received airlifted medical attention, is originally from Wirrabara, approximately 63 kilometers north of Redhill. Detectives have alleged that the man deliberately set the fire at the Hope Street address, resulting in his severe burns.

The authorities expect the man to be charged with murder, attempt murder, and arson once his medical status allows. Police emphasize that the incident is not considered random, as the parties involved were known to each other.
