Importers association warns against impostors

The Importers Association of Nigeria (IMAN) has issued a warning to the public, government agencies, maritime stakeholders, security agencies, and the business community against engaging with impostors and unauthorised individuals who claim to represent the association. In a statement by the National President, Ndubisi Ugo, the association has emphasized that only Chief Dr Ndubisi George Ugo is recognized as the legitimate National President, appointed by the Board of Trustees on July 21, 2026, and effective from August 1, 2026.

IMAN has made it clear that no individual or group has the authority to collect money, levy, dues, registration fees, or solicit funds on behalf of the association without explicit approval from the Office of the National President. All official communications, appointments, press releases, and directives must be on the association's official letterhead and signed by the National President or the BOT Chairman.

The association urges the public to disregard any publications, social media accounts, or individuals claiming leadership outside the recognized leadership structure. IMAN further stated that it would not accept responsibility for transactions conducted with unauthorised persons, and anyone dealing with such impostors will bear the responsibility and face legal consequences.

For any verification of information or to address concerns, the association has provided its official channels of communication, including its official logo, watermark, reference number, and official addresses.
