Importers association warns against impostors

The Importers Association of Nigeria (IMAN) has issued a warning to the public, government agencies, maritime stakeholders, security agencies, and the business community about impostors and unauthorized individuals posing as its officials. The National President, Chief Dr Ndubisi George Ugo, clarified that he is the only recognized leader of IMAN, appointed by the Board of Trustees on July 21, 2026, effective from August 1, 2026.

IMAN asserted that no one has the authority to collect funds, levy, dues, registration fees, or solicit contributions on behalf of the association without explicit permission from the National President. All official communications, appointments, press releases, and directives must be on the official letterhead and signed by the National President or the Board of Trustees Chairman.

The association urged people to ignore any publications, social media accounts, or individuals claiming leadership that deviate from the recognized leadership structure. IMAN further cautioned that it would not be responsible for transactions involving unauthorized persons. To verify any information, appointment letters, official documents, identity cards, or other matters concerning IMAN, the association instructed contacting the designated communication channels only.
