I tested the LaserPecker LX2 for weeks, and its swappable heads make this laser cutter and engraver ideal for small businesses

The LaserPecker LX2 is a fully enclosed laser cutter and engraver, recently released by LaserPecker and specifically designed for home and small-business use. Unlike previous models, the LX2 features a modular head system that allows users to swap between 20W, 40W, and 60W diode lasers, as well as a 2W infrared laser, without the need for tools. This versatility enables the machine to handle a wider range of materials and objects than a traditional fixed single-laser engraver.

The LX2 is equipped with a 500 x 305mm build area and stands at 779.5 x 609.2 x 281.15mm in size. It weighs 22.5kg, making it relatively heavy but still manageable for lifting and moving around in a workshop. The machine is built with a slatted support base and offers both top-loading and front-loading capabilities, as well as front and top loading features.

Connectivity options include USB, Wi-Fi, and USB-C, with Mac users needing an adapter for the USB-C connection. The LaserPecker Design Space software, currently in Beta, is required for LX2 support, although LightBurn is also supported. The machine comes with a 12MP/6K positioning camera and two cameras for accurate placement.

Priced starting at $1599 (down from $1999) or £1349 (down from £1799) for the 20W standard bundle, the LX2 offers impressive speed, up to 1,000mm/s with acceleration up to 10,000mm/s², allowing for larger projects to be completed efficiently. Despite its size, the LX2 is well-built and aesthetically pleasing, making it a solid option for small businesses seeking a flexible and powerful laser cutter and engraver.
