Hundreds Of Teachers Observe Mass Fast, Demand Cancellation Of TET In MP’s Dhar

In Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh, a large number of teachers engaged in a mass fast and staged a sit-in at the Collectorate on Sunday. Their protest was against the upcoming TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) examination and several issues related to the new teacher cadre. The demonstration was organized on the advice of Azad Adhyapak Shikshak Sangh and the United Front.

Omprakash Rathore, the district president of Azad Adhyapak Shikshak Sangh, announced that an indefinite protest would take place in Bhopal starting from September 27, and the agitation would persist until the Madhya Pradesh government canceled the TET examination.

Following the mass fast and sit-in, the teachers took an oath not to partake in the TET examination. Subsequently, they proceeded to the Collector's office, unfurling a banner that read "Jhooth Ki Goonj" (Sewer of Lies), and presented a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister to Naib Tehsildar Madiha Khan. During the presentation, Omprakash Rathore read out the demands listed in the memorandum.

The key demands included the cancellation of the TET examination, the discontinuation of e-attendance, the restoration of the old pension system, pending promotions, time-scale pay orders and pension gratuity. The event saw participation from United Front coordinator Devendra Solanki, Kaluram Maru, block president Anokhilal Chaudhary, as well as numerous district and block officials, along with hundreds of teachers.
