On Sunday, eight-year-old Khumo paid a heartfelt tribute to her late mother, Elizabeth Moselakgomo, during her funeral in Pankop township, Mpumalanga. The funeral came after Moselakgomo, a 38-year-old runner, went missing during an afternoon run on September 10, prompting her daughter to report her missing. Her body was later identified at the Germiston mortuary.

Khumo stood before mourners, speaking directly to her mother and expressing the profound grief of losing a mother at such a young age. She described the emptiness left behind by her mother's death but held onto the love and memories they shared. "Dearest mother, how heartbreaking that you left me," Khumo said. "The day feels quiet without your voice, but your love is still here, surrounding me with love."

Despite no longer being able to hold her mother's hand or see her smile, Khumo emphasized that the memories they created together would forever remain with her. "I may not hold your hand or see your beautiful smile, but all the memories we have made will stay with me forever," she expressed. She also shared her wish to look up to the sky whenever she felt lonely, imagining her mother watching over her with love.

Khumo's tribute revealed the deep longing she felt for her mother, wishing she could hug her and be embraced by her. She promised to carry her mother with her inside her heart, ensuring she would always be nearby. "I wish I could hug you. I wish you can be here. But I carry you inside my heart, so you can always be nearby," Khumo said.

The young girl ended her tribute by declaring her love for her mother, calling herself her mother's "beautiful daughter" and "princess." "Your beautiful daughter loves you so much. She misses you every day, but I know that I have gained a beautiful angel in you," Khumo said. She thanked her mother, expressing gratitude for the impact she had on her life.
