Heavy rain alert for South Bengal, fishermen advised to return

South Bengal is bracing for heavy rain and rough seas as a low-pressure system develops over the Bay of Bengal. The Alipore Meteorological Department is forecasting rain and strong winds across multiple southern districts next week. Fishermen have been advised to return to shore by Monday due to the hazardous sea conditions. A cyclonic circulation over the North Andaman Sea will likely form a low-pressure area that will move west-northwest, intensifying into a depression by Monday and a deep depression by Tuesday.

Subsequently, the deep depression is expected to reach the coasts of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh by Wednesday morning, bringing heavy rain to several districts of West Bengal from Tuesday through Friday.
