Gandapur underwent surgery for ‘torture’ injury, claims brother

Former chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur underwent surgery 10 days ago at a local hospital for an old neck injury, according to his brother Faisal Amin Gandapur. Faisal clarified reports about his brother's health, stating that the former chief minister had been taken to the hospital after experiencing discomfort post-surgery. Upon examination by doctors, Gandapur was advised to rest at home.

Faisal had earlier posted photos of his brother with stitches on his neck on social media, revealing that nine stitches were applied during the procedure.

Faisal claimed that the injury had occurred while Gandapur was in Punjab police custody before the 2024 general elections, alleging that it was inflicted through electric shocks. He described the latest hospital visit as a routine follow-up, with Gandapur examined by medical professionals and advised to continue resting at home.

Faisal also dismissed false propaganda surrounding his brother's health, asserting that the former chief minister had previously raised concerns about his well-being during a meeting of the Apex Committee when he held the chief ministerial position.

Despite facing allegations of health issues, Faisal reported that Ali Gandapur continued to participate in various political activities, including campaigning for the Sept 27 political call and a street mobilisation. The legitimacy of the injury's origin, particularly the claim of electric shock during police custody, remained unverified.
