Gachagua: DCP will receive Ksh700M from Political Parties Fund each year

Democracy for Citizens Party leader Rigathi Gachagua has predicted that his party could receive a significant sum of Ksh700 million each year from the Political Parties Fund in Kenya, starting from the 2027 General Election. Gachagua made this projection during his US tour, explaining that the funds would be part of the resources his party would have once it secures the presidency and gains a substantial number of parliamentary and county assembly seats.

He emphasized that the more votes the party receives, the more funding it will get from the government, which administers the Political Parties Fund under the Political Parties Act. Gachagua also highlighted that despite being only one year old, DCP is one of the most popular parties in the country due to its commitment to listening to the ground and mentoring young political leaders.

The party was officially registered on February 3, 2025, and publicly unveiled on May 15, 2025. After being removed as deputy president in October 2024, Gachagua formed the party, which involves citizens, leaders, and various groups in its creation. The exact amount DCP could receive from the fund depends on its electoral performance, eligibility, and the size of the available fund for distribution.
