Fuel shortage forces Gaza hospital to suspend operations, leaving thousands without daily medical care

Gaza City, September 20 — The Kuwait Specialty Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, has announced the suspension of all operations, except emergency care, due to a halt in fuel supplies imposed by the Israeli blockade, according to Anadolu Ajansi. The hospital issued a statement regretting the decision to cease non-emergency services starting today, citing the lack of fuel required for the facility's functioning.

The hospital warned that if the crisis persists, thousands of citizens will be deprived of daily medical treatment. This situation worsens the aftermath of Israel's ongoing war on the Gaza Strip, combined with a tightened blockade and extensive attacks on the territory's infrastructure and healthcare system. Since October 2023, Israel's offensive in Gaza has resulted in over 73,000 deaths and more than 174,000 injuries, while destroying nearly 90% of the enclave's infrastructure.
