Findlay resigns as B.C. Conservative leader after weeks of caucus upheaval

Kerry-Lynne Findlay has stepped down as the leader of British Columbia’s Conservatives, effective immediately, following weeks of turmoil within the official Opposition caucus. In a social media post, she explained that her decision was difficult but deemed it "the right one for our movement and our province." The resignation occurred days before she was scheduled to face voters as the Conservative candidate in a byelection in Abbotsford-Mission.

Findlay's announcement also came just hours after legislator Linda Hepner announced her departure from the caucus, raising the total number of sitting MLAs who have left since August to 13. Findlay stated that she would not allow an "internal battle" over her leadership to disrupt the work that a robust opposition could provide for B.C. residents in challenging the governing New Democrats.

She emphasized that attacks on someone's character, family, or threats toward them are unacceptable and should concern everyone, irrespective of their political stance.
