Emulate Uba Sani on mass transit scheme – Tinubu to govs

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised Kaduna State's free compressed natural gas mass transit scheme, calling it a prime example of a people-focused initiative. Tinubu emphasized that such measures are crucial for subnational governments to alleviate transportation costs for citizens. In an X post, the president specifically highlighted Kaduna's intervention, stating it illustrates how switching to cheaper domestic energy can directly benefit ordinary people.

The president's endorsement came following discussions with governors on August 27, leading to the formation of a committee to expedite the National Affordable CNG Transit Programme. The scheme, which involves a fleet of 100 CNG buses, has already transported over 3.2 million passengers and saved commuters more than ₦3.5 billion in its first year.

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani expressed gratitude for the recognition, reiterating his administration's commitment to policies prioritizing vulnerable households and expanding access to essential services.
