Colorado State apologizes to BYU for derogatory chants as 11th-ranked Cougars beat Rams 41-23

The Colorado State statement emphasized that such mocking of religious beliefs has no place on campus. The apology came as BYU, the flagship university for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, defeated Colorado State 41-23.

The CSU statement expressed regret for the incident, stating that it conflicts with the community's values and identity. This apology follows a $50,000 fine issued to Colorado State last season for expletives and religious slurs directed towards Mormons during a previous game.
