Car filmed fleeing RTD enforcement in Sabah seized by authorities

KUALA LUMPUR: A Perodua Viva caught on camera attempting to flee a Road Transport Department (RTD) enforcement vehicle in Sabah has been seized by authorities. RTD senior enforcement director Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan announced the car was impounded after it refused to stop for enforcement personnel and tried to escape. The vehicle, which fled from the enforcement, was taken to the Kota Kinabalu headquarters vehicle seizure depot, he said.

Kifli urged motorists to drive cautiously and not mimic the dangerous actions of the driver. The video circulating on social media depicted the black Perodua Viva changing lanes multiple times while being pursued by an RTD vehicle on a multi-lane road in Sabah. The clip, dated September 19, was recorded from another vehicle traveling behind them.

Kifli revealed that the RTD in Sabah investigated the incident and located the car at Kampung Sabandar in Tuaran at 10.25pm on the same day. The driver had allegedly committed three offenses: driving without a valid license, without insurance, and with an expired road tax. A vehicle detention notice and three P22 notices were issued.

The seizure involved joint efforts by RTD's motorcycle enforcement and patrol units, aided by the Tuaran police.
