'Can't stop BJP alone': Owaisi opens alliance door to 'like-minded' parties in UP

Uttar Pradesh is set for assembly polls in 2027, and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has opened the door for a potential alliance with like-minded parties to prevent BJP from forming a third consecutive government. Owaisi emphasized that no single opposition party can tackle the BJP alone and urged such parties to discuss potential cooperation.

His remarks come as political parties across India gear up for the 2027 contest in Uttar Pradesh, where the BJP has held power since 2017. Owaisi cautioned against comparing the forthcoming election to previous polls, saying it's a distinct electoral contest. He shared AIMIM's previous outreach to opposition parties in Bihar seeking an alliance for six seats, but without success.

Despite this, he assured that AIMIM would continue building its organization in Uttar Pradesh, citing a strong grassroots leadership and active workers. The AIMIM leader criticized both the BJP and Samajwadi Party governments over unfulfilled promises, governance, law and order, electricity, and land disputes. He also called for the release of the SIT report into the Ram Mandir embezzlement case and questioned the bails granted to accused persons.

Owaisi concluded by emphasizing the importance of staying connected with voters to understand their grievances and effectively highlight the government's shortcomings.
