Atkinson throws for 5 TDs, runs for another score as Oregon State beats Montana 52-17

Braden Atkinson played a crucial role in Oregon State's 52-17 victory over Montana on Saturday night, as the quarterback connected on five touchdown passes and added a rushing score to equal the school's record for total touchdowns in a game. The Oregon State quarterback completed 22 of 30 passes for 333 yards, making a highlight-reel play in an 11-play, 84-yard drive that culminated in a 1-yard scoring run with just seven seconds remaining in the first half, extending the lead to 35-3.

Atkinson's five TD performances tied the Oregon State record, previously held by Sean Mannion in 2013. The freshman also threw for 1,122 yards this season, the first OSU quarterback to achieve such a milestone in the first three games since Mannion's record.

Running back Jesse Legree contributed 100 yards and a touchdown on four receptions, becoming the first Beaver to score three consecutive 100-yard games since Brandin Cooks in 2013. Wide receiver Aeryn Hampton added 94 yards and a touchdown on six catches, while Keali’i Ah Yat threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns for Montana. Montana's defensive efforts were highlighted by a 27-of-40 passing performance by Visiting Captain Peyton Wing, who was later ejected for targeting following a hit on Atkinson.
