After 3 days of protests, IIT-B agrees to students’ demands; details of deal to be announced Monday

On Sunday, IIT-Bombay administration agreed to students' 18-point demands following the suicide of a 20-year-old student, Sahil Wakode. The details of the agreement will be shared with students during an open house on Monday. During a meeting between students, IIT-Bombay Director Prof Shireesh Kedare and other senior officials, the director signed the 18-point charter submitted by the students.

One demand was the immediate suspension of Prof Suryanarayana Doolla, who was involved in Sahil's examination and named in an FIR by his parents. Students demanded an independent investigation into the circumstances of Sahil's death, an open house with the director, Dean of Student Affairs, and other senior officials by September 22, and various changes to the institute's systems and policies.
