Woman allegedly kills husband planning to marry second wife in Kano

Bilkisu Sani, a resident of Rogo local government area in Kano state, has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband, Hafizu Gausu, who was reportedly planning to marry a second wife. The incident occurred on Friday around 7pm in the Katsalle area of Rogo town.

According to Auwal Kazagi Rogo, a resident of the area, the dispute between the couple escalated when Gausu's wife claimed he had been slaughtered. Upon reaching the scene, residents found that Gausu had been hit on the head with an object and died from the injuries. Kazagi further reported that blood on the ground and a bite mark on Gausu's ear provided evidence of the attack.

The police were immediately called to the scene, and the body was later evacuated for investigation. It was alleged that Gausu had recently engaged with another woman and planned to marry her as a second wife, which had caused frequent quarrels with Bilkisu. Despite the intervention of the elders, tensions remained high between the couple.

Police have arrested Bilkisu Sani as the prime suspect, and investigations are ongoing. Gausu was buried on Saturday morning in Rogo according to Islamic rites. The couple had been married for nearly seven years and had two children together. Bilkisu, who is currently pregnant for her late husband, is said to be the reason Gausu had asked his fiancée's family to bring the wedding date forward by two months due to her resistance.
