Where has all the razzle dazzle gone?

On a recent visit to the Durban Country Club, a group of friends attended Shall We Dance, an uplifting performance showcasing spectacular razzle dazzle. The event, held at the club from Monday to Saturday between noon and 10 pm, and on Sundays from noon to 5 pm, featured hundreds of dancers who entertained the audience with their captivating routines.

After the show, the group decided to dine at Grimaldi's, where they were greeted with a vast buffet offering a variety of dishes, including sushi, hot starters, salads, pastas, and a roast beef dinner. While the sushi and hot starters were well-received, the hot starters, such as the spring pea soup, were not served hot enough. The vegetable curry, though spicy, was not a strong favorite, while the battered fish and various salads provided a decent selection.

The roast beef, described as rare and served more grey than brown, was accompanied by a stodgy Yorkshire pudding. Vivek and the reporter appreciated the beef, but the mixed vegetables and cheese-coated veg were unappealing. The gravy, containing pieces of spaghetti, was quite bizarre, while the lack of condiments further diminished the dining experience. The dessert selection consisted of cupcakes, mini milk tarts, and mini eclairs, while the Malva pudding and Malva pudding custard were the standout items.

The reporter felt that if the restaurant had been as seamless and polished as the performance they had just witnessed, their meal would have been much more enjoyable.
