We must stay focused against FC Samartex – Kotoko coach Eric Tinkler

Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler urged his team to focus on aspects they can control as they prepare for a challenging away game against FC Samartex in the Ghana Premier League. The Porcupine Warriors are set to travel to the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Sunday for Matchday Three, aiming to keep their unbeaten start in the 2026-27 season intact.

Tinkler, who assumed leadership during the off-season, has overseen a promising beginning to the campaign, with wins over Kpando Heart of Lions and a draw against league newcomers Debibi United. Samartex has also had a solid start under new coach Nana Kweku Agyemang, winning both of their opening matches and moving up to second place in the standings.

Ahead of the match, Tinkler emphasized the importance of concentrating on controllable factors amid the difficulties of the lengthy journey. "I told the players we need to focus on the controllables," Tinkler stated. "We cannot control the long journey; we must accept that fact, but we must try to make the best of it." While acknowledging the difficulty of the upcoming game against Samartex, Tinkler believes their performance and actions will ultimately decide the result.

Kotoko currently sit fourth in the table, and they aim to extend their unbeaten run when they face Samartex, with a 15:00 GMT kickoff.
