‘We got them!’ – 3 nabbed for the death of racing driver Robert Wolk in Kempton Park

Three individuals have been apprehended in relation to the fatal shooting of racing driver Robert Wolk in Kempton Park. Wolk met his end on Wednesday after being shot while attempting to escape from his assailants at the intersection of Parklands and Cawood Streets. Surveillance footage showed Wolk pleading with his attackers not to harm him as they opened fire, killing him. The suspects fled the scene in a blue VW Jetta 5 sedan, which was later connected to two other incidents of hijacking and murder.

A collaborative operation between the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department, South African Police Service, and Blue Hawks Security personnel led to the arrest of the suspects. A man was initially apprehended in the Spartan area, while the other two were nabbed at the Enhlanzeni Hostel, along with the getaway vehicle. During the operation, authorities recovered a Beretta pistol with a filed-off serial number and 17 rounds of live ammunition, which they believe was used in Wolk's murder.

The three suspects now face charges of possessing a possibly hijacked/robbed vehicle, murder, and carrying an unlicensed firearm with ammunition. They are scheduled to face a court appearance next week. Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi expressed satisfaction with the arrests, stating: "We got them". Wolk had planned to attend a racing event in Cape Town when he was fatally shot during an alleged road‑rage incident.

Eyewitnesses claim that Wolk's Audi struck the Jetta at low speed, leading to an argument that escalated into a shooting. Surveillance footage captured Wolk pleading with the attacker to stop before he was fatally shot in the back. The shooter was seen removing an object before fleeing the scene. This case is still under investigation.
