Watch video of Koforidua PENSEC staff telling student chop boxes are no longer accepted

A video surfaced on Facebook that appears to capture staff members at Koforidua Pentecost Secondary School instructing a Form Three student to remove her belongings from a chop box upon her arrival at school. One of the staff members is heard stating that the student was aware that the chop box was no longer permitted on campus, and that she must bring a rubber bag or similar alternative to store her items.

The video was posted by Blackjoy TV on September 17, 2026, as students returned to school following a break. The Ghana Education Service (GES) issued a directive on September 18, stating that Senior High and Senior High Technical Schools must not refuse admission or accommodation to duly admitted students solely based on the type of storage container they bring.

The container must be reasonably sized, safe, and not pose a threat to the well-being of other students. The directive was issued in response to reports that some schools were denying admission to newly admitted students who arrived with metal trunks, wooden chop boxes, or other containers.
